Slater Mill Historic Site

Slater Mill Historic SiteLocated in Pawtucket. Recognized as the “Birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.” In 1793, a building was constructed for manufacturing cotton yarn by waterpower and Slater Mill became the first successful factory in the United States. After its restoration in 1925, it became one of the first operating industrial museums in the United States. 90-minute tours are led by costumed guides to three historic structures where period demonstrations are done. There are several different tours for school groups including one that allows the children to operate simple machines to complete a project.

Lincoln Woods State Park

Lincoln Woods State ParkLocated in Lincoln. Some of the activities that can be enjoyed at this park include swimming at the fresh water beach, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, boating, ice skating or playing ball. There is a new covered bridge at the Breakneck Hill entrance. Other new additions include a kayak school where you can rent kayaks, canoes or take kayak lessons and a new riding stable.
