Carolina Mountain Ribfest - The festival features World Class professional barbecue competition Chefs from all over the country. They will be serving mouth watering, award winning BBQ Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, and Pulled Pork with all the traditional side dishes. Carolina Renaissance Festival - Ever wanted to go back to a simpler time, when jesters performed for monarchs, knights jousted for the love of fair ladies, and everybody ate with their hands? Metrolina Expo Vintage & Antiques Show - Serious antique enthusiasts and flea market frequenters consider this one of the best antique spectaculars in the Southeast. Hundreds of vendors gather here from throughout the United States and Europe to sell hard-to-find silver, antique linens, furniture, garden accessories and architectural details.

Charlotte St. Patrick's Day Parade & Charlotte Goes Green Festival - Uptown turns green each March when folks with things Irish on their minds gather to participate in the Queen City's annual St. Patrick's Day parade and festival. Those attending can expect to see Celtic bands, traditional Irish dancing, pipers and tons of emerald on display. Food and drink will be on hand at the festival, and there will also be plenty of activities to occupy the kids.

Coca-Cola 600 - In late May, Charlotte Motor Speedway comes alive for this popular NASCAR race that includes parades, concerts and loads of other entertainment. Races are held at a variety of tracks types, including short tracks, intermediate tracks, superspeedways and road courses.

Festival in the Park - This four-day festival remembers the days when every city had a real park to bring residents together. Handcrafted collectibles, world-class art displays, and delicious fair food provide all the incentive people need to plan their schedules around the long weekend.

Latin American Festival - Early October, held at the Mint Museum of Art and offering a great family day out with kid's activities, music and authentic Latin American food.

Loch Norman Highland Games - Held in April, this festival celebrates Scottish Highland traditions. Spectators from across the country come to reconnect with their heritage or simply to have great fun. Although there are plenty of kilts, there are an equal number of jeans and khakis. The music is festive and the camaraderie delightful. Great fun to be had by the entire family!

Taste of Charlotte - Fast a bit before heading to this gastronomic extravaganza, where some of Charlotte's best restaurants ply their wares. Buy a cup of food coins, and taste 100 different tidbits from local places like Amelie's French Bakery, Caribbean Hut, and Rí Rá Irish Pub.

Summer Pops at Symphony Park - Pack a picnic, a bottle of wine, and comfortable lounge chairs, and unwind with the Charlotte Symphony on a sublime Sunday evening before the workweek begins. A summer staple since the early '90s, the music series has devoted past performances to Broadway, Father's Day, and Fourth of July numbers.
